Title Tournaments - Sign Up

[Overview] [Sign Up] [Tournament Results] [Full Navigation] [My Tournaments] [FAQ]

As such, you can now sign up for the next cycle in each of the title tournaments, and can therefore sign up for the first round in every major tournament for the next 12 months at any time. Only players who have completed 2 games are now eligible to sign up to attempt to avoid having so many people join at the last minute who never return to the site and time out all their games. You still need a fully established rating for the handicap class. For the time being all tournament formats use Fischer timing, with the time control 7 + 1 < 7, meaning a 7 day initial timer and an increment of 1 day per move up to a maximum of 7 days. This should give people a good initial clock and yet still keep things moving quickly.

Please use the inbuilt form in the table below to sign up for whichever tournament and classes you wish to participate in. Provided you have completed the necessary games to be eligible to join you are free to join as many or as few classes as you like.

Tournament Byes

Due to the excellent participation rate in the tournaments, there is now a bye system for the main and nine by nine classes of the group elimination tournaments. Any player who has received a gold, silver, bronze or green award for that tournament type (for being at least a finalist in one of the previous tournaments for that class) will automatically progress to the 2nd round. The bye only applies to the same class that the award was received in, and will only apply to group elimination tournaments, but will last for every future tournament of this type on the site.

Tournament Awards

You may have noticed some players have award symbols after their username either when viewing a board or on the players list. These awards are given for achievement in our main bimonthly tournament classes. Trophies are given out for the main class, and stars for the other classes (with a '9' in for the nines class and an 'H' for the handicap class). 1st Place in a tournament gets a gold award, 2nd gets a silver, 3rd gets a bronze, and the green award is given out for reaching the final (or a high win percentage in the case of the Group McMahon format system). The full awards are as follows:

Main Tournament Awards: AwardAwardAwardAward
Nines Tournament Awards: AwardAwardAwardAward
Handicap Tournament Awards: AwardAwardAwardAward
